As of today, NetEase has officially released the Deadpool trailer, and somehow, he’s 100,000 percent more than fans were expecting. The Merc with a Mouth arrives exactly as advertised: loud, fast, ridiculous, and yes absolutely caked up (seriously, he’s giving Emma Frost and Dagger a run for their money).

But crude humor aside, Deadpool brings something genuinely wild to the hero shooter genre.
In NetEase’s latest hero shooter, Deadpool isn’t just a DPS. He’s a DPS, Tank, and Healer all in one, making him a true flex character. While hybrid characters aren’t unheard of Brigitte in Overwatch, for example, is a healer with tank-like tools Deadpool breaks the mold entirely. He doesn’t just borrow traits. He fully embodies all three roles.

Even better, Deadpool can switch between these roles mid-match using a comic book mechanic. Getting pressured by a Hawkeye while dueling? Flip the page and go Tank. Team falling apart? Swap to Healer. It’s fast, chaotic, and perfectly on-brand.

Character-wise, Deadpool is written incredibly well. He fires off unhinged quips that would make even Reddit blush, moves with insane speed and aggression, and is absolutely packed with references. His pistols are golden guns straight out of James Bond, and his hit confirms explode in classic comic book onomatopoeia, BANG, POW, BLAM, right on the screen.

There’s honestly a lot to love about everyone’s favorite Merc with a Mouth, and if the trailer is anything to go by, Deadpool might be one of the most creative characters the genre has seen in years.

Deadpool officially releases in Season 6 on January 16th.
