Mega man 7 anniversary

Mega Man 7 tends to be a divisive title among fans, but in this gamer's opinion, it's absolutely fantastic. It continues the fight against Dr. Wily with stunning 16-bit graphics and some of the most beautifully detailed sprites of its era.

I first experienced Mega Man 7 through the Mega Man Anniversary Collection during the PS2/GameCube days — a compilation that featured games 1 through 8, along with Power Fighters. I remember powering through the early games with ease, only to hit 7 and feel the shift: the challenge sharpened, and the gameplay demanded more thought. Each Robot Master had a distinct, memorable design, moving beyond the typical "rock-paper-scissors" formula that earlier Japanese games sometimes leaned on.

Two Robot Masters still stand out for me today. Shadow Man, with his sleek, vampiric aesthetic and unique sound-based weapons, remains a personal favorite. And Slash Man — well, I was a Wolverine fan, so his design instantly clicked with me. Thinking back on Mega Man 7 fills me with nostalgia for the adventures it offered, and the sense of discovery it sparked.

Also, for the record — brentalfloss' lyric dunking on Mega Man 7? Absolute nonsense. Mega Man 7 rules.
