capcom countdown reveal blunder
Side bar:
We also did a reaction trailer. Watch here:
watch the announcement and procup here
Ethics and brevity: i have no connection or association to capcom or street fighter
Copyright: redearth, darkstalkers, street fighter and cyberbots are all property of capcom
Story:
I won't sugar coat it. This has been the biggest let down in Capcom history. Especially with all the hype and wonder. Just to end the way it did. So, let's talk about all of it.
What i liked:
Capcom ported all three darkstalkers, cyberbots, street fighter collection, puzzle fighter, AND FUCKIGN REDEARTH of all games On to modern consoles meaning that. We can finally play these games legally, giving them a new audience, and a new way to play them. They also announced that these games would be online play. And all have rollback netcode. Meaning that these games are playable online. They also have official art, concept and design information.
What i hated:
After getting hyped for what that showed us so far it ended with a teaser for street fighter 6. Which we all knew was coming, it wasn't an if but a when. The trailer kind of blows. Even for a teaser. The teaser shows us Ryu preparing to fight Luke. Which I personally do not care for. But this isn't the first time Capcom has tried this. They tried it with Shawn and they kind of forgot he existed and probably will happen to Luke after 6. (Though i will admit the street fighter 6 logo looks sick.)
Then it ends with an announcement saying more is to come in summer 2022. Meaning all of this hype was just to end on a wet fart instead of just waiting. They gave us a big website page and timer just to let us down. Which is on brand for capcom, even if I'm still hyped for the 2d collection. I'm still not sure why they needed this countdown to END ON ANNOUNCEMENT OF AN ANNOUNCEMENT. Hell, the website was stuck on one hour because the Capcom Cup lasted longer than anticipated.
edit: as of 2023, ive grown to love Luke's design and even his character, while this blog was reactionary i still feel my distaste for the timer is true in nature.
