Rediscovering my love of wrestling

As a kid who grew up in the 90s. Professional wrestling was something I always had a diet of. But when I got older, I slowly fell out of love with it. I went from watching WWE, to TNA: impact, to random indie leagues my brother had bootleg DVDs of. But something inside me became jaded and I grew board of it a little after 2005. I don't know if its just me wanting to be a goblin and watching edgy wrestling like the perception ECW/WCX. Or the product became boring to me. But I kind of hate it, hated falling out of something i had fun with.

And most of my love of it post 2005ish was from watching YouTubers like Wrestling With Wregret and OSW Review. But those were always more wrestling’s funny and kind of possible cringe past. Which in itself is fun. But something inside me wanted to see what wrestling was like now, but i never had cable and torrenting wrestling events is a little harder on a shitty internet connection. But that’s when Little Kuriboh started his mark remark series.

He found a way to talk about modern wrestling in a really fun and funny way. And while the product can and always will be hit or mess (Seriously, woman wasnt ready then). If it weren't for the mark remark, i would have re-discovered the WWE Network existed in the first place

Once I bought the WWE Network, I started catching up on the current day product. Which was honestly, really surprisingly good. And that's when I feel with wrestling again. Watching the product at its funnest was really fucking great. Some of the characters were iffy but watching shit like NXT in its prime was amazing. Watching Asuka, Sasha Banks, hell Shinsuke Nakamura and Brey Wyatt is was fucking fantastic. Also, The New Day is the best tag team don't even argue with me.

Hell, watching both the Royal Rumble and Wrestlinia live for the first time since i was 7 was fantastic. Watching A.J styles debut for the rival company was the hypest fucking thing I've ever seen.

Then I discovered NJPW and Ring Of Honor. More in particular Kenny Omega. Watching him and the bullet club, the golden elite he’ll just Kenny vs Ibushi was a fucking great experience. Watching them put on an entire Sports performance, telling a story. The moves, watching Kenny Omega and anyone wrestle is like watching an entire anime episode but on crack. It's beautiful, and I feel like everyone needs to watch it once. Kenny's bout against AJ Styles is also 100% something you really could watch to get into wrestling as well.

Watching this much wrestling over time it's what dawned on me. what i loved about wrestling overall. Wrestling, as the performance, the ballet of carnage. It's something amazing to watch, watching these men and women, putting on a sports entertainment event at levels that was a mix of anime or a movie, but with tangible state of being. It's beautiful to see. and something i really can't turn away from anymore. and I don't even want to
