Killer Instinct Anniversary To Be Free
Ethics and Brevity: I have no affiliation with Microsoft or Rare, I'm just a fan of Killer Instinct and Fighting Games
The holiday season has arrived once more, bringing with it not only the cheer of giving, but the gift that keeps on giving - another classic game going free to play. Hot on the heels of Half-Life's free release, Killer Instinct has announced that their own 2013 reboot will be getting a free-to-play version for its 10th anniversary. In an enthusiastic blog, the team shared their plans for a new edition, and even invited new players to dive in and experience the timeless classic. In a time of giving, the Killer Instinct team sure knows how to make 2024 even more exciting. On the official bog, Rare said:
. The Killer Instinct Base Game will be FREE TO PLAY on all platforms: Xbox consoles (One, Series X|S), Windows PC, and Steam.
. The free KI base game will feature one free weekly rotating Fighter and Single-Player, Local, and Ranked modes."
While a little annoying that its only free for them, Killer Instinct is owned by Microsoft so it coming free to their products makes sense.
The blog also stated that a 30$ variant of the Anniversary game will be available for the entirety of the DLC, which is all 29 fighters and premium content from the release.
As a fighting game fan, I'm super hyped to see Killer Instinct back in the zeitgeist of gaming. The game is full of action and chaotic fun, making it a must-play for any gamer looking for a good time. With its memorable characters, addictive gameplay, and eye-catching visuals, Killer Instinct is an essential part of the fighting game scene, and I'm excited to see it back in the spotlight this holiday season.
