Breaking Gaming News!
Sony has just announced a special 30th Anniversary Edition of the PlayStation 5, complete with a matching controller and handheld console! The exciting news was revealed today through Sony’s official PlayStation Blog and Twitter feed.
While their Twitter account is very corporate, their blog does details their nostalgia and admiration for their fans and customers. But giving more details and specs on the controller, PlayStation 5 and (portable console).
With that in mind, I would like to celebrate Sony in my own way. Growing up we didn't have a lot of money but I remember my aunt's got together and gifted my grandma a sony PlayStation 1 and some games. Those games, while one escapes me the one I remember playing alot was Tony hawk pro skater. I spent hours learning tricks and creating the ultimate skater that looked like me.
I like many other edgy kids spent hours listening to the sound track. Bands like gold finger and the dead Kennedy's were virtually unknown compared to limp Bizkit to me, and if it wasn't for the sony PlayStation they probably would have continued being so. There's something so magical about doing a kick flip while ska plays to me.
Later on in life, my uncle would take me to the local Hollywood video and I'd rent different PlayStation games. The ones that stuck out to me the most were resistant evil, and silent hill, but the game that some reason stuck out to me that later in life I had to do an expedition to see if i was crazy for thinking i made the game up was fighting force. I gotten very sick one day, and my uncle came home early from work with a bag of McDonald's and went to the Hollywood video and rented it for me. I was ecstatic. The game looked fun with different balls to the walls action hero tropes. And I sucked at it. But the game was too much fun to care.
I spent years thinking I had just had a fever dream of a perfect action game. I found out later that the game did exist, and had to scoop up a copy of it fast.
The last core memory I have with the console is playing twisted metal with my family. My brothers, my cousin and I used to spend hours playing it against each other. Trying to unlock minion and dark tooth. I remember we learned we could put a cd into the console, we used to start games then pause it and swap the disks out. Sometimes when I hear an insane clown posse song I think of warthog shooting his special attack against sweet tooth and flower power.
There are too many to write down in here, but it's safe to say that the song PlayStation will forever live in gamers hearts as the console that changed everything.
