I still remember my first encounter with Evangelion. I discovered it through an unexpected recommendation on a 4chan mecha thread. While I usually don’t follow advice from random online forums, something about this one stood out. On a whim, I decided to give it a shot and found a few episodes online. Before I knew it, I was binging the series, completely engrossed.

Watching Shinji Ikari’s journey from a timid, conflicted boy to someone who gradually learns to love and forgive himself was captivating. His growth unfolds against the backdrop of a world that becomes darker and more destructive with each passing episode. Yet, as everything around him crumbles, Shinji begins to stand up—not for his father, not out of obligation, but for himself. It’s a powerful story about courage, self-discovery, and finding your place in a chaotic world.

Here's to 29 years of Evangelion—an anime that continues to resonate with audiences and redefine what the medium can achieve, with beautiful and amazing animations, with deep impactful stories, and much much more, give evangelion a watch at least once
