Capcom came out swinging at this year’s Summer Game Fest, delivering a packed lineup of announcements. From the explosive Street Fighter 6 Season update to the main event—the jaw-dropping reveal of Resident Evil 9. This latest entry in the beloved survival horror series looks absolutely wild, and fans are already buzzing about what’s in store.

Resident Evil 9: REQUIEM looks like exactly what fans—both newcomers and veterans—have been waiting for. Set in a haunting open world built on the ruins of Raccoon City, the game introduces Grace, the daughter of a character from Resident Evil: Outbreak, as the new protagonist.

From the trailer alone, it’s clear that REQUIEM leans heavily into atmosphere and lore. We hear whispers of recent incidents within the city’s remains, stirring up long-standing questions: How far did the explosion from Resident Evil 3 truly reach? What was left behind—and who stayed behind? The game promises to explore these mysteries, and honestly, I’m all in.

I’m genuinely excited to see where REQUIEM takes the story. Will we finally learn the canonical fates of the Resident Evil: Outbreak crew? Is Kevin officially part of the main timeline now? Did anyone else survive the fall of Raccoon City? Have scavengers or sinister factions returned to pick through the ruins? There are so many questions—and that's part of the thrill. One thing’s for sure: what we've seen so far has me completely hooked. It’s clear that REQUIEM is shaping up to be both a terrifying new chapter and a heartfelt nod to the legacy of Resident Evil.
